Frequent Questions

Why should I choose Helmet Head as my custom paint & airbrushing provider?

Our goal is to have satisfied customers who will speak highly of our work. A quality job leads to quality references, no matter how small or big the job. With over 9 years of experience in airbrushing and custom painting, we will provide you with a quality piece of art, and we can prove it.

Do you only paint helmets?

No! We will paint on anything that can have paint on it!! To put it simply… the list of things we will NOT paint is a much shorter list.

What paint do you use?

We use AutoAir paints, which allows us to provide you with a high quality finish, and also reduces the impact our business has on the environment. Auto Air paints are water based, and contain far less harmful solvents than traditional paints, while still delivering a high quality, professional finish.

I can’t decide what I want painted… What do I do?

The first step in a custom paint job is a meeting (phone, e-mail or in person) in order to get a basic idea of what it is that you want. We will set aside a time to talk and to help you work up a design that you would like. If your only idea is that you want something painted, we will simply chat and ask you questions until we can get a sense of what might appeal to you. From there, a couple of rough sketches will be done to try to hone in on the design you want. Once we have narrowed it down to a design that you think is right, a Photoshop mock-up will be done. From here, further narrowing can be done.

Two mock-ups will be done, allowing you to change colours, locations of images, etc. Since these mock-ups average an hour each to complete, any more than two will result in an increase in the overall cost of your project.

Once we have the mock-up that is your dream design, the painting process can begin.

How long does it usually take to complete a job?

Depending on the item that is being painted, and the detail of the design, it can take between 2-6 weeks to complete. A job with an extremely detailed design might take longer, however, and a base timeline will be given to you once you have approved your design.

Rush jobs are possible, however, this will result in the overall cost of the project being significantly higher.

What is the average cost?

The price will vary depending on the items being painted, and the detail of the design.
