Biography
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to draw, sketch, doodle and paint. It just came naturally. Whenever I have the chance, I pick up a pencil and start to turn my thou ghts into pictures.
An equal love to art is hockey. I played afair bit growing up and even spent a little bit of time between the pipes. I loved the game then, and still do today. I even manage to get on the ice a couple of times a week just to stretch out the legs.
Three years ago my son, then 8 years old and already a hockey fanatic, made the rep team as goalie, and wanted his helmet painted. I thought, “I could do that!” and so I did. After extensive research, and a few test runs on old helmets, I painted his mask. It turned out well, and I was hooked. Helmet Head Design was born!

Around the same time, Kingston was in the bid for the title of “Hockeyville, Canada”. A Kingston radio station, 96.3 Joe FM, was having a contest for local businesses. I partnered with a local sporting store. They supplied the helmet, I designed and painted it, and together we won second prize. How do you compete with a 53 foot tractor trailer??
Today, Helmet Head Design is my passion, and I look forward each day to going to work. Not everyone gets the opportunity to make their passion their occupation. It was Confucius who said, “Choose a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life.” I plan to continue not working a single day for as long as I am able. |
